5 Characteristics an Entrepreneur MUST Have - by Shaun Lee

What is an entrepreneur? According to Wikipedia, an entrepreneur is a person who has possession of an enterprise, or venture, and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. To translate it into simple terms, an entrepreneur owns a business of which the entrepreneur is responsible for the risks and outcomes. To be an entrepreneur, one has to possess defined characteristics of an entrepreneur.

What are the characteristics of an entrepreneur? Are these characteristics vital? It's a no-brainer actually, of course it's important! Your chances of business success is significantly lower if you do not possess these characteristics. The characteristics of an entrepreneur consists of:

1. Good leadership

Leadership is a rare characteristic. It is very hard to find individuals with good leadership qualities. This is because not many people dare to take responsibility, or take the lead. Alan Keith of Genetech once said, "Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary happen." Precise and right to the point.

To be a good entrepreneur, you must be a leader. You must be able to guide, direct, influence and affect people. This way, all your business problems can be overcomed with ease.

2. Risk taker

All businesses involve risks. There is not a single business in the known world right now that is 100% risk-free. You can't make money if you are not willing to take risks. If you are not willing to take risks, then you are bound to fail in the business world.

But, a successful entrepreneur does not take all the risks he faces. All risks must be evaluated first, before taking the dive. You wouldn't want to dive into some unknown waters, would you?

3. Honest and Trustworthy

This is an undeniable characteristic that all entrepreneurs MUST have. Let's face it, would you give your money to some stranger that guarantees you to make 1000% profit on the street? No you would not. Maybe if that stranger asked for $10 dollars or he convinced you with hard facts, you would, but that's out of the case. As the saying goes,"Honesty is the best policy." Every one likes honest and trustworthy people.

Being honest and trustworthy is considered one of your most important characteristics. It would take years to build your credibility and honesty, but it would take just a few seconds to totally destroy your image should you do something dishonest.

4. Your Passion

Your passion fuels your actions. And your actions make money. Any entrepreneur should be passionate about their business to be able to perform well. You must maintain your enthusiasm and interest in your field. For example, when making money online is your passion, you wouldn't feel working even if you stick yourself to the monitor 24hours a day.

http://wilkovesky.theiec.hop.clickbank.net
Your passion makes it easy for you to act. Working no longer means working when you work with your passion. It just means doing something you like. If you like to play games and playing games is your 12-hour job, it certainly wouldn't feel like working 12 hours a day.

5. Intelligence

No, I don't mean you need to have exceptionally high IQ to success. But what I mean is that an entrepreneur should be clever and witty in all your business dealings. You have to show that you are concentrated and 100% focused on your job to be able to gain your clients' respect and trust.

The world is a mean one. Scammers are out there somewhere, preying for a weak target everyday. To resist being scammed or being duped, an entrepreneur should be smart and be alert of who you are dealing with. If not, you would eventually suffer some uncalculated losses.

These are one of the few characteristics of a successful business entrepreneur. These characteristics will, no doubt, help you overcome obstacles you may have to face when you are operating a business. And without these characteristics, your business may eventually fail and you will have to bear the losses.

What if you have the main characteristics of an entrepreneur already? Then study the market, find a solution or make a product, get some capital and you're ready to make a killing in the ever-changing world of business.

Online Business Success - Do You Have Enough Patience ?

In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins: cash and experience. Take the experience first; the cash will come later.” - Harold S. Geneen

Patience is Required for Business Success Online by T. J. Philpott

In order for business success to be achieved by you or anybody else it will require your patience and a willingness to invest the time and effort. Perhaps the most frustrating part of your journey as you build your business will be those times when it appears that little or no progress is being made. During times like these, and there will be many, you will need to possess the perseverance to continue on while ignoring the temptation to simply give up. Building anything worthwhile is always going to be more a process in which you as an individual will also need to evolve. This process will test your patience but if you do stick with it the end results usually always make it worth the while.

Here are 3 stages through which you will need pass as you build your business and your awareness of them beforehand will help for you maintain your resolve.

Perfecting Your Efforts

Anything and I mean anything you enter into without prior knowledge of or experience in will present a learning curve that you can not avoid! New skills will need to be learned and perfected over time and this will require practice and/or repetition. This is a normal process to be expected as you build your business so maintain your patience knowing that the rewards will be well worth your efforts.

Realization Efforts Are Cumulative

Not all your efforts will yield results that are significant or even noticeable. It is important to realize and remember that one effort does not yield great results but instead it is a culmination of your efforts that produce the results you seek! For many it may be a frustrating experience not receiving the 'instant gratification' they are looking for from each effort. This is where your patience will be tested time and again as you build your business but remember it is a process not a one time event.

Maintaining Your Efforts

As mentioned above you are involved in a process that takes time and a consistent investment of a 'quality' effort! On the other hand the only way you can expect to experience any type of success is by maintaining the perseverance needed to reach your goals. This is the single biggest reason many are not as successful as others simply because they give up too easily! If you do not give up or lose your patience you will most likely achieve what it is you set out to do in the first place.

For business success to be achieved by you or anybody else your patience will be required since there is no such thing as overnight 'successes' except in the case of lottery winners! Another thing to realize is that not every effort will yield measurable results! Knowing this ahead of time will help minimize your frustrations and giving you the perseverance to continue your efforts to build your business. The roadside is littered by the many who gave up on their dreams not knowing that their previous efforts were about to culminate into the success they were seeking. By being aware of the 3 stages through which you need to pass when you build your business as reviewed above, you lessen the chances of giving up just short of reaching your goals.

Four Online Business Success Tips

Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you're not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.” - David Rockefeller (1915 - )

We all want to be successful in business, whether on-line or off-line.

The article below gives four useful tips for anyone in business.

To your continued success.

Michael Wilkovesky

Online Business Success Tips - By: Daniel Moro

If you want to succeed with an online business working from home then you need to know that it is not all about sleeping in late and lazing around at the beach. In fact the first two years of setting up an online business are the hardest.

Here are four tips for online business success.

1. "Online" Does Not Mean "Easy"

Contrary to urban myths and what you may have heard, setting up and managing an online business is not a piece of cake. Why do you think such a high percentage of people who try working online quickly become frustrated and quit.

Starting any business, including an online business, requires careful planning and hard work. Sure, you can go to the beach, but it should be a reward you give yourself after a concentrated period of constructive work.

2. Study Hard

Yes, you did hear me right, that is, unless you recently graduated with a degree in e-business. Most people I know who are working online are self-taught. So study up. Allocate some hours every week to research what other online business people are doing. Participate in webmaster forums. Check out the latest affiliate news and rumors. Read a popular e-book.

3. Perseverance Pays Off

Perseverance is almost always rewarded online. Sometimes you will try something new and it will fail. So retreat. Regroup. And try again with a different approach. Sometimes you will just need to tweak your strategy a little bit to get it to work. Keep persevering and the rewards will come.

4. Invest Wisely

Don’t be afraid to invest. You just need to invest carefully. You should purchase books, software or other resources that will genuinely help you to understand your business better or complete your online work more efficiently. Don’t believe everything you read though. Before you buy anything check out some online business forums for some unbiased feedback. Most good webmaster forums do not allow affiliate links in the forum posts so the feedback tends to be more honest than some other sources.

If you follow these four tips you will have a much higher chance of succeeding with your online business.

Promoting Your On-line Business

It may not always be profitable at first for businesses to be online, but it is certainly going to be unprofitable not to be online.” - Esther Dyson

How do you grow and promote your on-line business to make it successful? The article below gives some pointers on how to start, promote and grow your business.

Start Grow and Promote a Successful Online Business

How do you take a successful online business opportunity and turn it into a successful online business? Online business success is the result of more than just a good idea or a great product, it comes from ongoing application of tried and true business principles.

The first step to establishing a successful online business is to plan for success. This means to take the time to find out whether there is a genuine demand for your product or service and if there is, whether or not that demand is already being met by competitors. Conducting a feasibility study essentially means discovering whether or not your business idea is actually feasible, after all the primary purpose for creating an online business is to make profits.

The next step to establishing a successful online business is to write a business plan. You need to know where you want to go and how you can get there. You also need to cost your start up and ongoing expenses. Many businesses fail due to insufficient capital from the beginning. Even online businesses require a certain amount of investment. Can you afford to make it? New businesses also fail because of a lack of focus. Business owners can find that they are very busy doing activities that are not income producing. A business plan protects you from making these classic mistakes because it directs your activities and gives you something to measure your performance against.

Once you know what you have to do in order to grab hold of a successful business opportunity and turn it into a successful online business, you can begin to take steps to achieve your dream. The obvious first step to creating a successful online business (assuming you have your business concept) is to obtain a well designed website that is easy to navigate structured for search engine optimization. Getting a website up and running has never been easier. You can create your own even if you are not a proficient computer programmer by using web design programs such as Front Page, online web design software (usually linked to a domain provider) or paying for a professional to do it for you. The last option does not need to cost you a fortune should you opt for it. Freelance job sites allow you to post your requirements and receive bids for the work from professional freelancers. From these bids you can select the one you feel is best for your needs. It is not uncommon to see bids of only a couple of hundred dollars for a basic but professional website to be created to a client's specifications.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usOnce you have a professional website, you need to be able to attract targeted visitors to your website in order to develop a successful online business. Let's face it, without website traffic you won't be able to make sales and without sales your potentially successful online business opportunity will flop. Two of the most effective ways to generate website traffic are article marketing and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. Article marketing is a free business building strategy whereas pay-per-click advertising can be costly. It is important with PPC advertising that you take the time to research the most popular search terms. You can do this for free by using Overture's search inquiry tool. This information allows you to choose keyword terms that are most likely to attract visitors.

Article marketing, on the other hand, is a free strategy but it is time intensive. It is the process of writing relevant and informative articles related to your business area and submitting them to article directories. Webmasters and ezine publishers can download your article and use it for free as long as they leave it intact and include your biographical information and live links to your website or blog. This benefits you in two ways. Firstly, people who read your articles may click on your link to obtain more information, thus providing you with the opportunity to directly market to targeted visitors. Secondly, the back links to your site from sites that host your articles will improve your search engine page rank making it easier for you to get found on free search engine results pages. This, in turn, will help to generate more traffic.

By diligently applying these strategies you will be able to start, promote and grow a successful online business and best of all, you will be able to avoid common pitfalls and enjoy the process.

Becoming a Successful Small Business Owner

Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance but to do what lies clearly at hand.” - Thomas Carlyle (1795 - 1881)

Are you a small business owner? Are you successful? The article below outlines what it takes to be a successful small business owner.

Michael Wilkovesky

What It Takes To Be A Successful Small Business Owner According To “Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach”

Did you ever wonder why some small business owners are so successful and are always steadily growing their business, as compared to others who constantly struggle to manage and grow their business? In my research and in reflecting on my own business coaching experiences I have found that there are several key characteristics of successful small business owners. Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach offers the following list of ten (10) key characteristics that describe the successful small business owner.

1. They are visionary and have the ability to create a clearly defined vision for their business. They see the value in clearly defining the strategic focus for their business.

2. They are never 100% satisfied. They are committed to continuous improvement in their business. They are aware of their successes and do celebrate their successes, but they are always looking for ways to improve their services and products, their systems and processes, their customer service and other aspects of their business.

3. They are lifelong learners and always look for the "lessons learned." They are not afraid to make a mistake or to fail. Truly successful small business owners rarely, if ever, experience a "straight path" to their success. More common is a "hazardous and winding road" with failures and obstacles along the way.

4. They seek advice from business coaches, mentors and experts. The successful small business owner realizes he or she cannot be an expert in every aspect of their business. They also realize they can gain great value and insights from outside sources and reach out to those sources for advice.

5. They are optimists. This is especially true of entrepreneurs who own small businesses. They seem to always see the glass as half full, rather than half empty.

6. They hold themselves and others accountable. This is a rare characteristic of small business owners. Most small business owners are accountable only to themselves, which means they are not held accountable. This is another area where a business coach can be a valuable asset to the small business owner by holding them accountable.

7. They continuously build relationships. One of the key marketing strategies deals with building relationships and this must be a continuous activity.

8. They create opportunities rather than waiting for the opportunities to come to them. Even in crisis situations, the successful small business owner will look for and create opportunities.

9. They are effective strategic thinkers and planners and apply the principles of strategic thinking and planning to their business on a daily basis.

10. They are excellent listeners and really hear what their clients say. They have a commitment to understand what they have heard.

Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach encourages you to fully realize the benefits of business coaching to strategically and effectively manage and grow a successful business. Home Business Success Tips

I'm a big fan of small business ownership. I think it's the backbone of American innovation. But to be successful, you first have to have the courage to go for it.” - Bill Rancic

Working from home is more difficult than most people believe. You can improve your chances of success by careful planning.

The article below gives some tips that are very helpful.

Michael Wilkovesky

3 Key Internet Home Business Success Tips - by John McRae

It is shocking to see how many people claim to provide Internet home business [http://www.homeaffilate.com] success tips while failing to address the basic problems that most Internet marketers have to face.

There are three crucial steps that must be taken in order to achieve significant internet marketing success. Here are 3 key home based business success tips to help get you started off in the right direction.

1.Setting Goals is Harder Than You Think

One reason that many people fail is that they do not know what they are trying to achieve. If you ask the average beginner what their goals are, the answers are often similar to this: I want to pay off my debt, I want to buy a house, I want to work from home, etc The problem with these goals is that they are not business goals, they are personal goals. A business goal would be to create 12 websites that are on the first page of Google in 12 months. This goal is concrete. It creates a starting of point.
When you start setting goals for your internet home business, it is important to make them as tangible as possible. When goals are tangible, they are measurable. If one of your goals is not measurable, how do you know if you have already achieved it or not? How do you know how much further you need to go?

2. Create a Means-Based Action Plan

Many people will start creating their action plan, only to leave out the actions. Action plans are not ends-based, they are means-based.

For example, "I want to have the top ranking website for the keywords X, Y, and Z", is not a means-based action plan. A high ranking website is the end. The means could be something like:

"I am going to create 50 quality backlinks for every keyword to my homepage."
or
"I am going to submit 50 articles to article directories based on all 3 keywords."

The means is the action that you will take, not the results that you will achieve.

3. Create an End-Game

When you start out on your internet marketing career, every project needs to have an end game. The end game is the point where you get out. Your end game does not have to be set in stone, but needs to exist. The best way to create an effective end game is to determine when your website has matured to the point where you are making maximum profits with the minimal amount of work. At this point, you need enact your end game. For many people, this would be the point where they would sell the website because this is the time that it has the maximum value. Regardless of what your end-game is, it needs to exist.

These 3 crucial success tips may not be glamorous, but they are important tips that you need to understand in order to succeed. By using these 3 internet marketing success tips as a guide, you will be able to start your business out on the right foot.

Business Failure Causes

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” - Thomas A. Edison (1847 - 1931)

We all want to be successful in business, but sometimes businesses fail. Below are some common causes of business failures. If you avoid them you will most likely be successful.

To your continued business success.

Michael Wilkovesky

The Most Common Reasons For Business Failure - By: Online Tax Agent

1) Bad/good decisions making
This is the most common reason why business fail as just one bad decision can be a reason for you business failure or success. Decision making is one of the most wanted skills in business and you can learn how to make good business decisions. There are many books written on this topic if you want to improve your decision making skills. Tips on decision making: when making decision do not rush, take some time with every decision and try to analyze advantages and disadvantages of your decision. In beginning this process will take more time but wit a little exercise you will become better.

2) Lack of business experience
You can be the best tradesman in your trade but if you lack some basic business skills you basically have two options: improve your business skills or find some employment. Being in business requires you to have great communication skills, selling skills, some accounting skills, some understanding in general laws and to be passionate about your product or service. This can be learned and the best advice here is to find a good accountant and create a long term relationship with him/her.

3) Compliance and legal issues
If you are running your business without any records you are not compliant and it is just a matter of time until your business will be forced to close. Even worse case could be that you are in some kind of illegal business activity or scheme. Be very careful with some offshore schemes and investing in tax havens as this may be illegal.

4) Bad cash management
Even if you are ticking all the boxes in your business and your business is growing you have to monitor your cash flow daily and use some cash flow tools and have proper cash budget. Remember profit is not the same as cash. Your business may be profitable but without cash you will be forced to borrow or to close down.

6) Competition and market
Always keep your eye on your competition and compare prices. If your competition is selling the same kind of product or service for half the price you do not have any other options than to match them. If you competition is improving their product or service you have to do the same. Not monitoring your market and competitors or not knowing who they are can be fatal. More unique your product/service is less competition you will have.

7) Risk controls
You should know what your biggest risks are and how to prevent them happening. Usually some kind of insurance must be in place. So e.g. the biggest risk for a farmer may be a drought so measures taken may be to ensure there is enough water in the drought season and the crops are insured against loss.

8) No controls or records
Nor having records also means that the business owner does not have any controls on his/her business as it is impossible to make a good business decisions which also bring us to the most common reason for business failure – bad decision making.

9) X-factor
It is impossible to predict all the situations possible and sometime we have to expect some unexpected events such as e.g. malfunction of equipment, natural disasters or maybe alien attack!? Therefore it is a must to have some reserves and cash savings in such moments in order to continue business operations as usual.

10) Lack of trade knowledge
Market is dynamic and you should follow and be ready to learn new skills. More skills you have more competitive advantage you have over your competition.

11) Attitude to succeed
Believe in yourself and your products and services and you will succeed. If you expect success you will succeeds or if you think that you are not good enough in what you do your failure is guaranteed.

12) View for a profit
Business is an activity with a view to a profit so if you do not like or want profits than do not have business but a hobby. If you make good profits you will be able to help others in need.

13) Outdated product/service
Example: If you are in business of selling DVD’s you should start thinking about switching.

14) Change in laws and policies
Sometimes changes in government policies can cause some businesses to close such as e.g. in Australia government has prohibited use of pop up sprinklers for lawns. Also another example can be that some professions will have to have licenses or additional training.

15) No vision
Your business vision should be formulated and written on paper. Your vision should be clear and without any doubts. If your business has two or three completely different activities this is an obvious example of lack of vision.

16) No succession planning
What happens when a business owner decides to retire or wants to sell his/her business? In order to ensure business succession you should engage professional accountant, financial planner or lawyer for expert help.

17) Fraud
Fraud can be a cause of business failure if not detected on time and if no safeguards were implemented in the business. Assets, business records, procedures, passwords should be safeguarded by implementing relevant policies and procedures. If you engage auditors to audit your financial statements they will detect possible risks and any fraud.

Success Tip for a Home Business

Home businesses are hard for many people and having other people question your decisions are not helpful to your well-being.

Are You Proving Yourself Right Or Proving Others Wrong A Home Business Success Tip

Here's probably one of the best home business success tips you can ever take with you: "Prove yourself right instead of trying to prove others wrong". I know this because I used to try my a$$ off to prove others wrong that I wasn't making a mistake by becoming a home business owner. Has this ever happened to you or someone you know? I bet it has and if you haven't seen this yet, you will! Many newbie entrepreneurs have this mentality of trying to prove others wrong because they hear it all the time. There are 2 reasons why they hear it:

1. They pitch their opportunity to friends and family. In my opinion this is can be the biggest mistake newbie entrepreneurs can make when starting their own adventure. Friends and family members can be the "nay sayers" most try to prove wrong.

2. They start believing in others opinions "just a little bit" for it to stick in their mind and the only way to get that out of their head is to prove the "nay sayers" wrong. The entrepreneur believes by becoming a successful home business owner proving others wrong will get them on top.

Let me tell you this: If this happens, you WILL fail!! Home businesses should be about doing something better for the lives of themselves and their family and future by changing the world in some way. Trying to prove others wrong will lower yourself to their standards and not the ones you have set for yourself - which should be very high! Here's a little phrase that I like to use when someone criticizes or questions me: "What you think of me is none of my business." This usually quiets the "nay sayer" pretty quick! Try it out sometime.

Here's what happens when you focus on Proving Yourself Right: 1. You have a confidence about yourself that WILL be noticed by others - especially the people that you know personally. The more confidence you have, the better your business will be. 2. You will become closer to your goals everyday because you know what your vision is for yourself and what it takes to get there! 3. Your focus and mindset become UNBREAKABLE! You will have others trying to bring you down to their level.

By keeping your focus on knowing what you have to do everyday, you will know what action steps have to take place to take the steps forward in meeting your goals and your vision. 4. Proving yourself right will also show others that you can be that leader that many others want to follow. The more followers you get, the more lives you will change and the more successful you will become.

So if you are trying to prove others wrong in starting your own home business. Stop! Start proving yourself right! Start focusing on YOUR beliefs, and trust your vision!

Business Success Tips For Startups

High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.” - Charles Kettering

Player created by Inbound Now - YouTube Call To Action.

Many Succeed Where Others Fail

While many start ups fail, countless have also made it. Obviously, those who made it did most things right. Here are some business success tips from companies who have survived their early years.

Business Strategy - Successful companies have a game plan, a carefully devised plan of action to achieve the bottom line. The business plan helps them to see the big picture where there are well-defined elements of the business and how each element relates to the other and to the bigger picture. The strategy is well thought out to consider risks and changes. It is also flexible to make room for change and growth. And, it is executed exactly right to achieve the goal.

Marketing - Successful businesses put emphasis on advertising, promotion and selling. There is concentrated effort in understanding their selling environment, building their product, satisfying their customers, innovation and creativity. Operating System - Successful companies have a process for adjusting, organizing and controlling important tasks. It is a method which includes guidelines and schedules for getting things done through the proper use of resources so that all the interrelated parts and tasks of the entire business is carried out and completed successfully while keeping costs down.

Money Management - Successful businesses regulate their financial affairs. They devise a budget which specifies how financial resources will be spent for a particular purpose for a particular period of time. They take the time to examine financial accounts and verify them as correct. They pay attention to the amount of money going to overheads and payments in comparison with the amount of money coming in.

Customer Approval - Successful companies consider it a helpful action and a matter of reputation to please their customers. They continually develop and improve their products and services. They regularly renew product offers and share valuable free stuff. They give customers opportunities to try their products before deciding whether they really want to buy it. They always enhance the whole customer experience to add to the pleasure, enjoyment and satisfaction.

Change - Successful companies always adjust according to circumstances and fine-tune themselves to any new situation. They understand that change is required for positive development. They look at change as possibilities and opportunities to progress rather than dangers or hindrances to stop them. They take risks, despite the danger of losing or the chance of something going wrong, in order to pass from their moderate state to become larger, more successful, more advanced.

Technology - Successful businesses invest in effective technology because they understand that it results to efficiency and productivity. It helps them achieve desired results by productive use of resources without wasted energy or effort.

Continual Learning - In successful companies there is an ongoing process of improvement. The people working together have the same opinion about making things better and becoming better. They go into training to learn new information and acquire new skills. People get promoted and move up in the ranks to gain new experience. There is a repeated show of support and mentoring where the more experienced advises and guides the less experienced people.

Positivity - Successful companies have a quality of being positive. The leaders and the people they work with are almost always in a state of being confident and optimistic. They handle difficult or stressful situations in a controlled calm. 5 Powerful Methods To Stay Successful In Business - By: Samantha Milner

In business, achieving success is merely half the battle won. The other half? As many veteran businessmen would agree, sustaining success – staying on top of your game and on top of THE game – is the more difficult part of owning and operating a commercial enterprise.

Case in point: flash-in-the-pan businesses are a dime a dozen these days. Overnight successes are stories that are quite commonplace. But businesses that last for years, if not decades? Alas, they’re rarities in this day and age!

The goal isn’t merely to succeed in business. The goal should be to remain successful in business.
Here are 5 powerful principles to live by if you want to achieve such a goal:

1. Believe in your business. Your business is bound to encounter many challenges and many tribulations along the way. Some of these trials would be grave enough to make you consider quitting. But should you? Remember: if you don’t believe in your business, if you don’t believe that it can succeed, then why should your prospective customers believe that your business is the right choice for them? Your faith in your business will go a long, long way in pushing it to reach its fullest potentials.

2. Find satisfaction in what you’re doing. If you do not find contentment in what you’re doing, then it’s just a matter of time before you give up on your business. Fulfillment can be attained in so many ways. If you cannot find that sense of fulfillment from your business, it’s either because: a) you’re not looking hard enough; or b) you’re looking at the wrong place. The smallest victory can be a cause for celebration. And the tiniest of triumphs can even provide the biggest kind of satisfaction.

3. Make your customer’s satisfaction your primary goal. Profit is good, but it shouldn’t be the driving force of your business if you want your success to last. The happiness of your customers should be your paramount concern. Remembers, happy customers are customers for life.

4. Strive to improve your craft and your trade. Never rest on your laurels. Always try to be the best you can ever be when it comes to the things you do for a living.

5. Have fun! They say that the best kind of moneymaking opportunity is one that you enjoy doing. If you will find such a business, then you’ve hit the jackpot. Now, no one said that this “jackpot” can’t be created. You can find enjoyment in what you’re doing. Even if the business wasn’t born from a hobby you once nurtured, you can still find ways by which you can make it very exciting and very enticing for you. Your enthusiasm for your business will eventually show in the products you will deliver.

Self Employment Ideas For A Sea-change - By: Elizabeth Todd

Are rumors doing the rounds in your workplace that there may be downsizing, a lay-off or merger? Are you afraid and don't know what to do? Maybe you are considering the viability of running your own business so you'll never need to be in the same bad spot again. That's commendable as many small businesses often begin with bright self employment ideas. There definitely are a great variety of top business ideas around so you are bound to find the right one for you.

It’s possible that you’re thinking of doing some checking on home party businesses in order to create the lifestyle that would bring you certainty? The idea of home party businesses as a way to be self employed has gained a lot op popularity. The best thing about them is that, if you handle it correctly and carry it out it as you would any other proper business it can be a whole lot of fun while you're growing your business. You need to keep in mind though that it can often have a negative impact on your personal life. You should think seriously about how this style of business may change your relationship with friends and you have to ask yourself if that is worth it before convincing yourself that home party businesses are what you really want to do. The question for you is will you, by starting this type of business, be providing a service or product for your friends that is a must have for them?

Having said that, I must also say that "Starting a home based business for fun and profit" certainly counts among the top business ideas. You'll just have to be careful that you have the resources and the essential business knowledge to apply them. This is where following a small business course before you commit yourself can make all the difference to your ultimate outcome. Following a course of this kind can provide you with a better perception of home party businesses and allow you to identify the solid, growing outfits as opposed to fly-by-night operators. Being aware of what’s involved and discovering all about business planning and taking action will make you feel more self-assured.

You must also think about your financial situation when working out whether or not you should try and build your own small business. Many new business enterprises require some start-up cash, just some more so than others. If you do not have the money necessary for opening your own business, you may be able to qualify for a small business loan. Several investors may be willing to give you a loan to get your small business up and running. However, to do this, you almost certainly will need to show the potential investor proof that you're certain to make a profit, or at least get adequate income to make good on the loan. The best way to do this is to write a clear and concise sales business plan. As mentioned before, doing a small business course will be of enormous benefit if you are not sure how to do your business planning. The success or failure of your top business ideas will usually depend on good planning before you start out. Regardless of the style of business that you plan to operate, a good understanding of business principles will be the key to your success.

So when and where is the best time to set up your own business? There is no single answer to this question but if you're interested in home party businesses featuring gifts, crafts, and other novelties, or any other similar business then a good time to start would be around festive seasons such as Christmas when the demand for gifts is at a high point. What ever you select to do, look at this as a new start in life, and your positive approach will help you discover that your self employment ideas can indeed be changed into a great future.

Home Business Success Tip - By: Bart Brown

When starting your work from home business, you can be overwhelmed with the myriad different aspects of creating the new business. Understandably, you quickly become bogged down with so many different details, that you can forget or neglect the most important of them all. That one aspect can make or break your work from home efforts and the most perfect site in the world will not make it without what I consider to be the most important skill you can have – internet marketing.

Internet marketing should be your primary focus every day. You have constructed a beautiful site, offer a great product or service, and now all you have to do is sit back and count the dollars. I wish it could be that way, but unfortunately you have to market your site and you need to send targeted traffic to your site every day. I know most newbie’s will say that they have no idea how that is done. That is not an excuse. There is a veritable wealth of free information available on the internet, and you should focus your efforts on learning and then applying that information.

Training is available to you in many interesting and easy to follow ways. Many eBooks are available for free or for a very nominal price. My favorite educational method is watching videos, but you can attend webinars, listen to audio training, or visit the many discussion forums. One of the newest and most popular would be social networking on Facebook or Twitter. Most of this training and valuable information is FREE.

Another valuable and very effective technique for driving traffic to your website is the landing page. An effective landing page can quickly build a targeted email marketing list. This is the best and most effective way to get those customers to your website that actually is interested in what you have to offer in the first place. It is also invaluable to future marketing efforts if you have a new product or eBook to offer in the future. The most successful work from home businesses is those that get the most targeted traffic. Targeted traffic is a customer who comes to your page and expects to be there.

It is important to educate yourself on every aspect of running and maintaining your website, but after things are set up and running in your home business, you need to narrow your focus to marketing and traffic. Think of it as building a body. It is healthy and looks good, now give it its blood and you will be running a marathon to a bigger and better future for your home business.

Sabotaging Your Online Business Success

Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you're not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were. “ - David Rockefeller

Success Online is Possible But Difficult

Achieving success in business online seems to be something that eludes a vast amount of online marketers. Marketing on the internet offers plenty of opportunity for anybody with the proper ambition and focus to become successful online. Strangely enough however it seems more times than not many fail at being able to turn a profit and earn a living online.

5 Reasons For Being Unsuccessful Online

Here are 5 common reasons many encounter difficulty at being successful marketing on the internet.

No Strategy in Place - When marketing on the internet you need to develop a plan of action or strategy as to what it is you want to accomplish and how. Much like taking a road trip you would not think of starting out without first mapping out your route. It is all too common for many to overlook the importance of having a plan as to how to get to where they want to be.

It is not good enough to simply know what results you want but rather how you are going to achieve these results. Without a map you are lost!

No Originality - Although it is always suggested to duplicate successful business models you should try to develop your own unique style of doing business. You must establish uniqueness about yourself or your business in order to stand out. Your chances of being successful are greater when you tend to stand out from the crowd. Whether it is a website or blog design or the way in which you deliver a message strive to be original in some way.

Easily Defeated - There will be many challenges when you are marketing on the internet and that you can count on. Expect these things and realize that you will not always get the results you are looking for. Resolve to 'hang in there' and use set backs as learning experiences. Remember, you have not failed until such time that you decide to quit.

Failure to Use Available Resources - There are many terrific resources available to you online in the form of mentors or even forums. Learn to use these resources to your advantage since it makes little sense to go through the 'pains' of learning something others already know and can pass along to you.

Fighting the System - Fighting against all odds it is admirable but dumb. Use brains instead of brawn to become successful online. Establish a plan of what your intentions are and how to implement them. Plan your work and work your plan but do not try to reinvent the system, especially if it is in perfectly good working order.

Some people are motivated by 'making their mark' and this is something you can do also when working online. Simply channel these urges into developing a business or product(s) that stand out or are unique in some way. Being resistant for the sake of feeding an independent streak within you however is wasted and non-productive energy.

Success is Easier Said Than Done

Becoming a success in business is easier said than done for many aspiring online marketers. The internet offers many a chance to start a business on a minuscule budget while serving up a global audience as prospective customers. But even given advantages such as these many still fail to become successful when working online.

The 5 most common reasons for these failures are discussed above. It seems that a general lack of business experience coupled with a need to 'reinvent the wheel' is the primary culprits keeping many from being successful. It does appear however that with a little more pre-planning and a greater willingness to take advantage of available resources that many of these internet business failures could be avoided.

Best of luck
